To help people
prevent, prepare for and respond to emergency situations. Provides relief to
disaster victims and homeless persons, provides communication link to
military personnel and their families, trains public in First Aid/CPR/AED.
ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION

To provide support
groups, self-help courses, public and professional education, exercises, and
financial assistance for medication and equipment supporting people with
arthritis and their loved ones.

MILLS CLUB

Allocation ~ $22,500
To provide social,
recreational, and daycare activities in a unique historical facility. Classes include cooking, ballroom
dancing and yoga. Warm water pool activities attract over 15,000 admissions
each year. Other services include: low cost housing for disadvantaged young
women, meeting rooms for community groups, educational and recreational
activities and low cost child care services.

SCOUTS OF AMERICA – ALLOHAK COUNCIL

To sponsor boys who
need financial assistance in order to participate in the scouting program.
CARING CONNECTION

Allocation ~ $37,000
To assist low income
families in Washington County with utility deposits/shutoffs, first month
rent assistance and emergency prescription help for those not covered by
insurance or Medicaid.

CHAPMAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION

To provide
after-school and enrichment educational programs for the community at large,
including hands-on learning and job training, targeting "at-risk"
children, to help them improve their school performance and self-esteem.

and transitional shelter, legal and social advocacy, referral services and
counseling for victims of domestic violence, as well as community education,
parent, life, and job skills training.

To provide outreach opportunities, such as after school programs and to
sponsor girls who need financial assistance to participate in the scouting

BANTAM BASEBALL LEAGUE

To provide scholarships to enable young people (ages 5 to 17) to participate in
supervised and structured recreation with emphasis on teamwork, self-growth,
and sportsmanship. Over 550 youth participate each year!

Sponsors youth
participation in many of the
YMCA’s programs and activities including aquatics, camping, childcare, health
and fitness, sports, community development and teen leadership.
MID OHIO VALLEY FELLOWSHIP HOME
United Way
Allocation ~ $7,000
To support the only
licensed halfway house within a 50 mile radius for recovering substance
abusers and their dependent children. The home provides counseling, shelter,
and support so the recovering individual can successfully return to his/her
family, work and community life.
O'NEILL SENIOR CENTER
United Way
Allocation ~ $15,000
To support the van
transportation program for adults over the age of 60 who need transportation
for medical related services.
PARENTS
AND FRIENDS OF HEARING IMPAIRED
United Way Allocation
~ $7,000
To support Agency services which include hearing screening of newborns; early
diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for hearing impaired children;
funding for educational materials and equipment for local schools; financial
assistance for hearing aids and communication and signaling devices for the
deaf and hard of hearing.

PATH FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY
United Way

To provide
transportation for youth (6th through 12th grades) to
attend summer dances and swim parties at various locations around Washington
County as part of the goal of “Promoting Healthy Youth Development”.

Allocation ~ $14,500
To support Salvation Army assistance
to individuals with food, shelter and clothing (77%) and to support programs and activities for youth and children
that build character and integrity.
SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM, WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION United Way Allocation ~ $14,000
To provide home
delivered and congregate meals to eligible local residents over the age of
60. Those assisted would otherwise lack sufficient care and might be forced
to give up their independent lifestyles in their own homes.
WASCO
United Way
Allocation ~ $2,000
To provide assistance with
transportation expenses so that disabled adults served by WASCO can safely get
to their places of employment, increasing their independence and use of
public transportation.
